Unreal mate, didn't think I'd see any English posts on here. I'm a sucker for finding the Cantonese media of my childhood and it's been so difficult finding anything when my Cantonese/Chinese reading ability sucks.
@Papaya, agreed. I've always been looking for a chance to improve my mother tongue and this has been a great excuse to do so

yes, your indication is correct. i think people are more likely to adapt to their surroundings. like us when i was i still a child, the only way to communicate with adult relatives, was through Cantonese. now kids just choose to speak whatever they want, as we could understand both Chinese and English. i guess English just makes it a lot easier for them to express themselves, so they choose English over Chinese. kids over here don't really watch cartoons anymore, as they are always on their smartphones and pads. so it is difficult for them to learn their custom language.

Have heard that kids in the Canton non-Hong Kong area are slowly losing Cantonese skills, and only know Mandarin... :/

really! i have a friend who is from Hong Kong and he types Chinese very swiftly. Good for you, your able to do both English and Chinese. when I want to communicate with Chinese friends, I would use speech-to-text on my smartphone. very convenient:D
